HESSA joins PLAYNOW
A rising Ibiza-born producer and DJ. His music is played at Solid Grooves, Circoloco, Time Warp, Awakenings and on the Defected Radio Show, and he has played DC10, Amnesia, Pacha, Pikes and Input Barcelona.
PLAYNOW is pleased to announce that HESSA has joined its roster. Behind the alias is Héctor Ávila, born and raised in Ibiza, with more than fifteen years behind the decks and a very specific moment: that of a producer whose tracks have started to be played in the booths that define the season, by some of the biggest names in house. A signing made on editorial grounds that also arrives in full ascent.
His music, in the booths that define the season
HESSA’s best calling card today is not his biography but who plays his tracks. His productions and edits are played in the sets of Solid Grooves, Circoloco, Time Warp, Awakenings and the Defected Radio Show, with support from artists such as Luciano, The Martinez Brothers, Sam Divine, Luke Dean and Max Dean and Dennis Cruz. Some recent, verifiable examples:
- “Ta Chula”, played by Sam Divine on episode 533 of the Defected Radio Show (September 2026) and by Luciano with Steve Martinez at Buenavida Beach, Colombia.
- Awakenings 2026, in Easttown’s set at the festival.
- Solid Grooves at DC10, in Saraga’s live set, and Circoloco Radio 339, in Makèz’s session.
- Radio shows and podcasts such as Radio Rudina, Bon Appétit Radio and Luke Dean’s seven-hour set at Shelter.
Where he has played
In Ibiza, his home, he has played DC10, Amnesia, Space, Pacha, Pikes and Underground, as well as events such as Sigma Ibiza. In Madrid he is a regular at Ballesta Club, Goya Social Club and Lula Club, and in Barcelona he has played Input. His diary also includes the River Stage at Días de Campo festival, Donosti, Mallorca (Es Molí Club) and international dates in Berlin, Paris, Zurich and Rabat, with performances across Europe, South America, the United States and Asia.
From 2Vilas to HESSA: fifteen years on the island
Before HESSA there was 2Vilas, the Pacha resident duo with which Héctor Ávila released thirty-three records between 2010 and 2019 on labels such as Bondage Music, Off Spin, Wax Isgud and Organic Music, with appearances on island compilations including «Privilege Ibiza 2012» and «Essential Ibiza 2015». He is also a co-founder of MTM Ibiza, a record shop and label, and today runs the programming of Blondie Club in Madrid.
HESSA: a short catalogue, chosen carefully
The HESSA project began in December 2023 and has moved at its own pace. These are its milestones:
- December 2023. The project opens with «GAL001 DGTL Series» on his own Get A Life, featuring the edits «Mr 69», «My Type» and «NightCall».
- 2024. «Spaceship EP», the first and so far only release in the Cosmos catalogue, cut on a twelve-inch at 45 RPM with a remix by Harrison BDP.
- 2025. «Funky Talks» on Días de Campo Records and «Lucy's Boyfriend EP», with a remix by Álvaro Medina.
- 2026. «Fight for Freedom EP», «Shaolin Cutz 001» and «People Like To Party EP», plus «The Black Pearl» on the Dreams On Wax fifth-anniversary compilation and «Flora» on «Amigos 003» from Días de Campo.
It is a short body of work, with no filler releases and vinyl as the format of reference.
Two labels of his own, pressed on vinyl only
HESSA runs Get A Life —which also has a parallel digital series— and Cosmos, still holding a single release in its catalogue. Releasing on vinyl imposes long lead times, limited runs and a firm decision on every track: in practice, it is an editorial statement. Since 2025, Días de Campo Records has also been the home for much of his music, with «Funky Talks» and «Flora» as the most recent entries.
A short catalogue is not a small one: it is a catalogue that has made up its mind.
