Yas Cepeda joins PLAYNOW
From Madrid, active since 2012 and now focused on latin afro house. Karen Records has entrusted him with the official versions of its classic catalogue.
PLAYNOW is pleased to announce that Yas Cepeda has joined its roster. This is a signing built on long service: more than a decade in activity, a discography that begins in 2012 and a recent, entirely deliberate turn towards latin afro house that has led him to an unusual commission, officially licensed reworkings of the classic catalogue of a historic label.
From Madrid to the Ibizan labels
Yas Cepeda is a DJ and producer from the Madrid metropolitan area, active since 2012. His first period was notably prolific and took place on Ibizan and Spanish house and tech house labels, among them White Island Recordings, Vamos Music, Looping and Pornostar, with a steady partnership alongside Serbian producer Vlada Asanin.
That run produced titles such as «Black Night – The Adventure Remix» (Blanco y Negro, 2014) and «Empirico» (HoTL, 2016, with an Albert Neve remix), and a progression that arrives in 2017 at the record which opened the international circuit to him.
From Musical Freedom to latin afro house
His discography spans fourteen years and two clearly distinct chapters. These are the milestones that order them:
- 2015. «The Adventure» on Pacha Recordings, within his first house and tech house cycle.
- 2017. «Strangers», featuring Ella Loponte, alongside David Tort and Markem, on Musical Freedom, the label founded by Tiësto. It was reissued in 2023 as «Strangers (Do You Remember)» with Francis Mercier, again on Musical Freedom.
- 2022. «Body Talk», once more with David Tort and Markem, released by Sony Music Mexico.
- 2024. «Belo Horizonti» and «OBSESIÓN» with Peppe Citarella, now also on the PLAYNOW roster, and Aaron Sevilla on Union Records, plus «Solo Se Vive Una Vez» with Azúcar Moreno.
- 2025. «Maleba» with Pablo Fierro and Yasha on WE'RE HERE, and his own compilations «Afro House Latino Vol. 1» and «Vol. 2».
He also releases on 2Minds Records, distributed by Sony Music Spain, and on Sunset Gathering. As a DJ he has performed in Morocco, Croatia, Switzerland and Belgium, and in January 2025 he played Lula Club in Madrid alongside Yasha.

Karen Records: reworking Juan Luis Guerra under licence
Since 2024, Karen Records, the historic Dominican label tied to the work of Juan Luis Guerra, has entrusted him with the official afro house versions of its classic merengue and bachata catalogue. That commission has produced «Colegiala (Afro House)» with Alex Bueno (2024), «El Farolito (Merengueton)» and «Me Sube La Bilirrubina» (2025) and «Las Avispas (Afro House)» (2026). One distinction is worth underlining, because in this field it changes everything: these are releases issued under official licence from the label, not unauthorised edits. For a programmer that means the repertoire can be played in the venue with every guarantee in place, and that the artist arrives with original material an audience already recognises.
Reworking a classic under official licence is not a commercial shortcut: it is a responsibility towards the original.
PLAYNOW
What he brings to the roster
Yas Cepeda strengthens the afro and latin house line of our roster with a complementary profile: a Spanish producer with licensed original material and a direct relationship with the Latin songbook. He suits three kinds of booking:
- Afro and latin house clubs, where the licensed repertoire allows moments of instant recognition without leaving the style.
- Festivals and large-format events with a broad, not necessarily specialist audience.
- Brands and private events looking for a considered Latin proposal with musical criteria and original material.
How to book him
Yas Cepeda is booked exclusively through PLAYNOW. Please provide the date, city, type of event, expected capacity and running times, and we will come back with availability, fee and the technical terms of the proposal. His biography, styles and links are set out on Yas Cepeda's profile, and you can write to us from the contact page.
